An update on Helium Mobile
So it seems someone followed my link and I was sent an approval code to sign up for the free plan. It seems the free plan includes
- Zero Plan ($0/month): 3GB of data, 300 texts, 100 minutes—free.*
So I went through the sign up process and I was required to install their app on my phone and allow precise access to my location at all times. My phone shows me an alert that I am sharing my location constantly. Then I was required to upload am drivers license or passport. I chose my DL and completed that and then I had to record a video of my face from both the left and right side. I was then rejected and given no reason. I was kind of ticked, but eventually contacted Helium support through the app. They appear to have resolved the issue without any further hassles. I then ordered a free physical SIM card and was notified that they are currently out and will be updated when the SIM ships. So it seems it's legitimate with some real hassles. I will update again when I have the service up and running. I hope a free plan is durable and not just a couple of months test before they realize the plan is not economic. There is the link if you are interested in signing up.
