How I got here
A couple of years ago I received some promotional credit for a Web3 domain. Buying a Web3 domain that I with no recurring obligation and not have to renew is quite attractive. I bought a couple and honestly just tried to see if I could get it setup correctly. One of the first items for me to learn about was getting a wallet address for the appropriate network. I got my Bitcoin back in 2014 and never sold, so you can see that I am obviously smart. When I got my Bitcoin, it was held at Coinbase, and I don’t think I have a wallet address as far as I can tell. My understanding is I might need to create a wallet with another app to receive Bitcoin at Coinbase. Since all of this was new to me, I did not really want to deal with wallet addresses and how putting that out there could affect me. So, I kind of dropped the idea of doing anything with my Web3 domain names. More recently, I have found myself in a situation that outside to the main summer months that I might have some availability during the winter months for who knows what. One of the domains that I purchased was www.dad4rent.wallet. As a dad, I thought I would simply put it out there that I am available for who knows what (that is not basically illegal….you know because I have kids). I logged into my domain name and created a basic blog post to see how it looks and what I might have to figure out for the future. I did not find a way to create email with my domain, but I was provided with the option to use [email protected] which seems fine as it simply forwards email to my current gmail account. I added that email as a contact to my blog post and then thought I would create a X.com account. To be consistent, I tried to use the new [email protected] but X.com could not confirm that email address. Nothing to confirm from X.com arrived at my email, I suspect it is simply a x.com configuration issue or something. Changing email to my current gmail, solved that issue and I have a new X.com handle at x.com/dad4rentwallet I tried my new domain address in my usual browser and find that it does not recognize the address, so I used Brave browser and after being presented with a check box step in settings, I was able to see my blog on the world wide web. I did notice after putting in my www.dad4rent.wallet address in Brave browser, it resolves to a more universally available web address starting with https://ipfs.io/ipfs and followed by a string of text that seems to correspond to my most recent update to my domain. Each time I revise my domain info and new text string is changed at https://ipfs.io/ipfs I didn’t think this would be an issue, however using X.com and wanting to pin a tweet at the top of my profile I realize changing the https://ipfs.io/ipfs link each time I make a revision is a killer. At this point, I decided to buy a cheap domain name that would allow me to make longer posts and have one single email for this endeavor. So I am going to blog here at www.6743323.xyz with one email to reach me and post a link to this blog on my Web3 domain www.dad4rent.wallet
